Make a downward motion with your dominant hand, palm up, while your other palm faces up. This simple movement represents paying for something in American Sign Language, and people use it all the time. The sign shows up in stores, at markets, and during business talks. This movement comes from the real action of paying with money, just like many other signs in ASL that copy things we do in real life. You can change how big or how many times you make the movement to show different prices or types of buying.
